Kelly Collection - Artifacts

From letterman patches to Kelly Buick ephemera the Kelly Collection artifacts act as a glimpse into the personal lives of C. Markland Kelly and Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr.

After the death of his son Ensign Kelly in 1942, the sudden loss of his second wife, Leone Humphreys Kelly in December of 1950, and his defeat in the mayoral election of 1951, Mr. Kelly rarely made public appearances or accepted invitations from the many civic organizations supported by the Kelly Foundation. The artifacts in the Kelly Collection encompass objects of Mr. Kelly's later life, 1951-1965, taken from his home at 3211 N. Charles Street, now the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Steinwald House and artifacts given to Mr. Kelly from Ensign Kelly's belongings that were left behind after the pilot was lost in the Pacific during the Battle of Midway.
