Memorial Foundation

A History of Philanthropy

Founded in 1946 in memory of Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr., the Foundation has approved grants and gifts totaling more than $9.2 million, all of which have benefited local educational, public health, youth, patriotic, civic, and social welfare programs.

The Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Memorial Foundation, Inc. does not furnish application forms to be used when applying for a grant from the Foundation.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, operating budget support, graduate fellowships, grants-in-aid for travel or research.  Its grants are primarily in support of elementary, secondary, and some higher education, youth activities, and civic causes in the greater Baltimore area. Some grants for cultural and public health programs may be considered from time to time.
